Its TEAM TIME!

Bealeton Baptist does its part by collaborating with Community and Church Organizations

It’s amazing what teamwork can do! Two weeks ago, the leadership of BBC got together and asked what role we can play in minimizing the hardship brought on by the COVID-19 virus?

The answer was, don’t duplicate, supplement! Expand on what we are already doing and augment other community and church organizations in what they are doing.

BBC already works in cooperation with Midland Church of the Brethren on Feed My Sheep. Unlike most other feeding programs, Feed My Sheep targets individuals who are homebound or lack transportation. It collects food from local grocery stores as well as a few key partners in Northern Virginia. It turns this food around and then delivers to 60 families.   With the outset of COVID-19, we have come up with a plan to expand the deliveries as necessary.

Early on, we reached out to school and community organizations to see how the church could help. We hit paydirt with Fauquier FISH, which in concert with Fauquier County Schools sponsors Grab-and-Go drive-thru pickups at some of the local schools on Monday and Powerpack deliveries on Thursday and Fridays.   BBC volunteered to become the central distribution point for Powerpacks in Southern Fauquier County.

Providentially, as BBC planned its support of FISH, Community Touch, Inc., a great non-profit in the area, called and suggested we work together on expanding their community feeding program. Bishop Tyronne Champion, recognizing the impending potential growth, expanded the ministry out of his Botha Road location from one to three times a week. BBC volunteers will be staffing the program on Mondays while a conglomerate of volunteers from other area churches, including Liberty Community, Heart’s Delight Baptist, and Soul Purpose Community Church, will divide up the other days.

This is not to say, BBC has forgotten its vital role in spiritual formation. The church has moved almost all of its programs online, including a Sunday morning service, a Tuesday night youth program, and “Coffee Pot” time, a 3-minute bible study based on the book of Nehemiah, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Bible Study opportunities continue to expand. Easter Drive-in Church is also planned.

The Apostle Paul in Romans 12 says that when the church is working properly it is like a body. All parts are important. In essence, the Church working together as the body is Team time!

Regardless whether you have been attending church all of your life or if you do not have any history of church involvement, we want you to feel welcome with our folks and have a genuine encounter with God during our worship time.
