My roots are in a little place named Copiague, New York, where I was raised in a family of three, the son of a truck driver and a nurse. I worked my way through a small college in Ohio, spending a lot of hard-earned money earning a B.A. degree in political science and English literature.
Misty and I came to Bealeton in 2006 and are thrilled to be part of this exciting adventure in Southern Fauquier County! My roots are in a little place named Copiague, New York, where I was raised in a family of three, the son of a truck driver and a nurse. I worked my way through a small college in Ohio, spending a lot of hard-earned money earning a B.A. degree in political science and English literature.
My master plan was to join the USAF for four years and then go to Washington, D.C. and work for the CIA. However, while implementing “my plan,” God showed me HIS plan.
During my first assignment, I had a life changing experience and decided to go in a completely new direction. For the next 25 years, I stayed in the USAF using my role as God provided opportunity to rebuild organizations and teach and transform young officers into leaders.
I met my wife, Misty, in San Antonio, Texas where we were introduced by some Godly friends. After a long-distance whirlwind courtship, I brought my bride back to Key West the following year.
Since that time, we have moved across half the United States twice finally settling in Northern Virginia where we closed out the Air Force chapter of our career. During that time, we squeezed in two Master’s and a bunch of marathon miles always finding ample time for involvement in all sorts of Christian leadership activities.
Misty and I are blessed with two children. Melody, our oldest, graduates from University of Virginia in 2018 and will work in the DC area. Stephen, our youngest, enjoys all types of outdoor stuff and is heavily involved in Civil Air Patrol and many other community activities
I think my parents had music around me all my life! I love to worship and sing with others who love to worship and sing! I grew up in Texas in a pastor’s home and I feel very blessed to have been raised on biblical principles and doctrine. My family showed me how to walk by faith and I love to hear my parents’ testimony of how God always provides!
As a young child I accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and, over the years, learned what it meant to walk in His steps. I felt called to missions, but my path always seemed to lead me to music and youth. After earning a BA in Music from Howard Payne University and a Masters of Education with a concentration in Youth from Southwestern Seminary, I realized God’s mission field for me was teenagers and I served in youth ministry for over 20 years. The Lord has now directed my full attention to leading worship and I so enjoy working with our praise team, media team and creative worship team!
Since high school I had felt called to marry someone in the ministry, but the Lord led me to marry a military man. Who knew that fifteen years later He would call that man into ministry?! I am blessed to be married to Bob Gordon, the pastor of Bealeton. God has given us a rich ministry at Bealeton Baptist and we are fortunate to serve together as a team.
Bob and I are also blessed with two awesome children, Melody and Stephen, who embrace life, love and are our pride and joy. But you’ll need to come visit us so we can tell you about them in person!
